๐Ÿ“œ๐ŸŽถ A History-Filled Afternoon for Years 4 & 5 ๐Ÿ”๐Ÿบ

Author and archaeologist bring history to life

Year 5 had the privilege of hosting Laura Buckley from AB Heritage, where they explored the practical side of archaeology. They handled real artefacts and learned about the skills needed to uncover the past.

Year 4, fresh from their visit to St Peterโ€™s Church, welcomed childrenโ€™s author and songwriter Keith Gregson. Keith, author of The Children's History of Sunderland, led an interactive session of history and singing. The children even learned their own version of the Bede/Benedict Biscop song to the tune of The Rattling Bog.

Keith shared his belief that Sunderlandโ€™s musical heritage could be one of the oldest recorded, thanks to Bedeโ€™s writings and the Music City project. A fascinating insight into our cityโ€™s past.

A brilliant afternoon of hands-on history and storytelling.
